Chimney sweep
Chimney sweeping, with the yearly inspection.
We don't sweep a chimney we haven't inspected. The inspection comes first, and if there's more than an eighth of an inch of buildup, that flue gets swept.
Call our receptionist, Kari, for the price and a time. We take pictures of what we find, and you get them by email.
We work weekdays, 9 to 5. Pick any time on the form and Kari will call you to set the exact one.

What we clean
The goal is everything that burns: the creosote and soot a wood fire leaves behind.
- The firebox, where the fire sits
- The damper and the smoke chamber above it
- The flue liner, all the way up
- The chimney cap
- The ash in the firebox and on the hearth, vacuumed up
Why the inspection comes first
Sweeping cleans the flue. The camera shows us if the liner's cracked, the crown's letting water in, or something's nesting in there. So the inspection comes first, and the sweep comes with it when the flue needs one.
What creosote is
It's the black, tar-like stuff a wood fire leaves on the inside of the flue. It burns, and a chimney fire is creosote catching. Burning dry, seasoned hardwood makes less of it than green wood or pine.
What it costs
Call Kari. She'll give you the price.
Kari answers our phone. She'll ask how many flues you have and what you're seeing, give you the price for your chimney, and get you on the schedule. Masonry depends on what's actually up there, so we price it from the pictures.
Inside and out, every flue that vents into the chimney, with pictures and a written report by email.
Part of your yearly inspection. When it finds more than an eighth of an inch of buildup, that flue gets swept the same visit. We don't sweep without inspecting.
Crowns, tuckpointing and rebuilds are priced from photos of your chimney. You get the pictures and the number before anything starts.

What people wrote after we left.
“We thought initially we just needed to fix the flashing, but when Jason dug into the problem, we found the chimney extension that was done 25 years ago had an improperly installed vapor barrier... It is so nice to not worry about drip-drip-drip every rain storm.”
“We bought an old house and the chimney was in need of urgent repair... we not only got something functional but also beautifully designed and crafted. We knew exactly what it'd cost and what we were paying for.”
“I got a call back right away the next business day and was scheduled. Jason called and let us know when he would be on his way to our house. He inspected it, showed us pictures of our chimney, and explained the process.”
“The team who worked on our new chimney liner and damper left things super clean and we love that we can have a fire in our fireplace for the first time in a lonnnnnnnnnng time.”
“Returned call same day and scheduled inspection... I was given estimate the next day. They demoed old chimney, installed new liners, and built an awesome new chimney. Wow! Totally satisfied!”

Chimney sweep questions
How much does a chimney sweep cost?
It depends on how many flues you have and whether they need sweeping. Call Kari at 320.414.0191. She'll give you the price for your chimney and a time.
Can I just get a sweep without the inspection?
No. We don't sweep a chimney we haven't looked at. The inspection is what tells us whether it needs sweeping at all, and whether it's safe to burn in once it's clean.
How do you know it needs sweeping?
If there's more than an eighth of an inch of buildup in the flue, it gets swept. Less than that, it doesn't, and you don't pay for a sweep.
How often should a chimney be swept?
Anything you burn in should be looked at once a year. How often it needs sweeping depends on what you burn and how much. Seasoned hardwood like oak or maple builds up less than pine.
Is it messy?
The soot comes off the firebox, damper, smoke chamber, liner and cap, and the ash in the firebox and on the hearth gets vacuumed up before we leave.
